Aussies face prospect of 'daunting' SCG Test

Peter Siddle, one of the few members of the Australia squad to have played on the SCG since the death of Phillip Hughes, says the team faces a tough lead up to the fourth and final Test against India.

Siddle played for the Melbourne Renegades in last month's loss to the Sydney Sixers at the ground and said it was a tough occasion.

"I had the opportunity to fly down and play the Big Bash game a couple of weeks ago in Sydney during the Brisbane Test and turning up then was a little bit awkward, a little bit daunting at first to walk out onto the ground and spend some time out there," Siddle said.

"It is going to be hard I think we all know that, I think the lead up is going to be the hardest.

"I think the best thing about it all is being together as a team, that is what has kept us strong .... if we want to talk about it we can I think that has been the best thing for us."

A number of tributes to Hughes are being planned ahead of the start of the Test on Tuesday.

Hughes made his first-class debut for NSW at the ground in 2007 and played his first Test there in 2010.

"This will be the best opportunity for us to do it all as one and get into that match," Siddle said.

"I think that once the match starts, like any match, we will get stuck into it and have a mighty fine contest."
