McCullum to retire from cricket

Nathan McCullum will call stumps at the end of the summer

New Zealand spinner Nathan McCullum plans to retire from international cricket at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old, who is the elder brother of Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum, has played 84 one-day internationals and 61 Twenty20 internationals for his country, having made his debut in 2007.

McCullum is yet to make a decision about his future at domestic level, but the father of three feels it is the right time to draw a line under his international career so he can spend more time with his young family.

The ex-Lancashire and Glamorgan player told the New Zealand Herald: "I don't want to make a big song and dance about it, but it's time to start thinking about the next phase of my life.

"I've got the sense that the end of this season is the right time to call it quits in international cricket."

New Zealand play limited-overs matches against Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan during the next four months.
