Test opener to join Cummins and Maxwell in pre-ODI series tour match against England
Rogers to captain Prime Minister's XI
Chris Rogers will skipper the Prime Minister's XI against England after Mike Hussey was ruled out with injury.
Hussey was withdrawn from the match after picking up a calf injury while playing for the Sydney Thunder in the KFC T20 Big Bash League on Friday night.
Rogers, who scored six consecutive half-centuries in the Test series against India, will lead the PM's XI in their 50-over match against England on Wednesday.
Rogers said it was "a great honour" to skipper the invitational team that will also include Australia's World Cup squad players Patrick Cummins and Glenn Maxwell.
"This is an important fixture on the Australian cricketing calendar and is steeped in tradition," Rogers added.
"I'm looking forward to following in the footsteps of Ricky Ponting, Brett Lee and others in leading this PM’s XI under lights at Manuka Oval."
The match will be exclusively live streamed on cricket.com.au.
Prime Minister’s XI: Chris Rogers (captain), Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Matt Condon, Pat Cummins, Jake Doran, Peter Handscomb, Simon Mackin, Glenn Maxwell, David Moody, Lega Siaka, Max Wright (12th man).
