Kolkata Knight Riders spinner will be available for the IPL after testing at ICC centre in Chennai
Narine's action cleared by the BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has cleared Sunil Narine to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in this year's Indian Premier League.
Season preview: Kolkata Knight Riders
Narine underwent testing on his bowling action at the ICC-accredited Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai on Thursday and the results of the test were reportedly submitted to the BCCI on the weekend.
The BCCI's sub-committee dealing with suspect bowling actions announced on Sunday that Narine had passed the test and would be free to play in the IPL opener between the Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians early on Thursday morning (Australian time).
The West Indian, who hasn't played international cricket since August last year, was twice called for a suspect action during the 2014 Champions League Twenty20.
He subsequently underwent remedial work and had his action cleared in testing at the ICC accredited facility at Loughborough, England.
However, the BCCI ordered Narine undergo a second test at their facility in Chennai this week.
Narine was absent from all cricket for up to three months following the Champions League while he worked on his action with former Pakistan offspinner Saqlain Mushtaq.
He returned to domestic cricket in fine style for Trinidad and Tobago in January, taking an incredible 6-9 from eight overs in the final of the West Indies domestic 50-over competition as Guyana were routed for just 65 at Queen's Park Oval.
Narine will again be a key man for Kolkata in this year's IPL having been their best bowler in their title winning campaigns in 2012 and 2014.
