Russell causes a stir at IPL
Kolkata Knight Riders allrounder Andre Russell caused a stir in his side’s IPL clash against the Rajasthan Royals last night.
Bowling to Shane Watson, Russell seemingly pulled out of his run-up, before fooling everyone by continuing on and sending the ball down.
It sailed harmlessly outside off-stump, much to the bemusement of the Aussie allrounder who was 26 off 15 balls at the time.
The dot ball stood and Watson’s confusion was only matched by the level of debate it caused on social media.
With the increasing prevalence of switch-hits and batsmen shuffling around the crease, most seem to agree that it’s about time the bowlers got one back on their counterparts.
if batsmen pretend to be right handers & bat left at the last minute, can't bowlers be allowed to pretend one thing & do another? #russell

No ball Andre Russell, isn't first time he's pulled exact same stunt. Think it was at the ODI World Cup. Poor form #IPL #cricket

As for Andre Russell, if bowlers are allowed slower balls, surely they should be allowed slower run-ups? Deception, or innovation? #IPL

Good for Andre Russell. Sulking batsman not happy with bowler deceiving him. Batsmen can switch-hit, bowlers allowed to have tricks...

Batsmen can 'dummy charge', feign the sweep, switch-hit, any manner of deception. Why bowlers not allowed...?! Get a life. Go Andre Russell!
