Kolkata Knight Riders held their nerve to extend their winning streak to 11 matches with a four-wicket win against Lahore Lions in their Oppo Champions League Twenty20 clash in Hyderabad.
The IPL 7 champions were seemingly cruising to victory before late wickets ensured a tight finish as Suryakumar Yadav hit the winning runs with just three balls to spare.
Chasing 152 runs to win, Robin Uthappa (46) and Gautam Gambhir (60) ensured the IPL powerhouse got the run chase off to the best possible start with a 100-run stand.
The Knight Riders then lost 6-47 to send some nerves through the camp, but they held on to secure their second win from as many matches at this year’s tournament.
Earlier, Ahmed Shehzad (59) and Umar Akmal (40) did most of the work for the Lions before Sunil Narine spun the momentum back in his side’s favour.
The West Indies spinner finished with the amazing figures of 3-9 from his four overs.
Australia quick Pat Cummins claimed the wicket of Akmla off the final ball of the Lahore innings to finish with 1-38 off four overs.
Kolkata now prepares for an important clash against KFC T20 Big Bash League champions Perth Scorchers, fresh from a stunning victory against Dolphins on Saturday. Meanwhile, Lahore will take on another IPL powerhouse in their next clash with the Chennai Super Kings in waiting.
