Semi-final opponent still to be decided
Southern Stars' semi scenarios
The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars are locked in for the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s World T20, but where they’ll finish and who they’ll play is still undecided.
Wins to England and India overnight narrows down the possible scenarios, with a showdown against arch-rivals England the worst possible outcome.
New Zealand play South Africa which will likely determine first place in Group A. In Group B, West Indies and India square-off, with the Windies assured top spot with a win.

If South Africa beat NZ by a narrow margin, Australia’s superior net run rate will see them retain top spot and place second place in Group B.
Following back-to-back Women’s Ashes losses, Australia will want to face the West Indies if possible in the semis.
That being said, Australia have defeated England in their last two meetings, both by seven wickets. Overall it’s bad reading, Australia have won just seven from 20 meeting in T20 cricket, but did beat them in the World T20 final two years ago.
The recent form of captain Meg Lanning, Elyse Villani and Ellyse Perry will fill the Southern Stars with the confidence that they can take out their third World T20.
