Bailey on the rise

Latest ICC Player Rankings released today

George Bailey’s record-breaking 12 months of one-day international cricket has been recognised in the latest ICC ODI Player Rankings released today.

Bailey, Australia’s ODI Player of the Year, has replaced South Africa’s Hashim Amla in third spot on the rankings with 856 ratings points. He now has AB de Villiers (872 points) and Virat Kohli (870) in his sights.

Other Australians to rise up the ranks include Glenn Maxwell in 32nd (up nine places), David Warner in 40th (up 17), James Faulkner in 50th (up 15), Shaun Marsh in 64th (up 17) and Aaron Finch in joint 65th (up 35).

After topping the list of run-scorers in the Carlton Mid ODI Series, England’s Eoin Morgan has jumped four places to 13th.

Aussie seamer Clint McKay has returned to the top 10 after claiming six wickets at an average of 23.50 in three matches against England. He sits in equal ninth place with India’s Ravindra Jadeja.

The other Australian bowlers to improve their rankings in the 50-over format were Xavier Doherty in 29th (up six) and allrounder Faulkner in 45th (up 15).

Australia have returned to the No.1 spot in the ODI rankings after the 4-1 series defeat of England and New Zealand’s 4-0 thrashing of India.

The rankings were released on the same day that the pool groups for the ICC Cricket World Cup were locked in place, with Scotland joining Australia in Group A.
