Pietersen opens London hair salon

Star batsman finds a new way to cut post-cricket

QUICK SINGLE: Warne slams Pietersen axing

Fresh from attracting a $1.6m price tag in the Indian Premier League Auction, England reject Kevin Pietersen is reportedly turning his hand to a far more modest profession: hairdressing.

Pietersen, who will join the Delhi Daredevils for IPL7 following the ECB’s decision to leave him out of their plans moving forward, will take up the project on the side, in partnership with his celebrity wife, Liberty X singer Jessica Taylor.

According to reports, the salon, ‘Bella Beau’ is of the high-end variety, based in salubrious Notting Hill and is exclusively catered to children’s cuts.

For a man who has sported some of the more colourful hairstyles in cricket over the past decade, the move has already been met with delight by UK press.

“Short bat and sides” was the headline in the Sun, while the Daily Mail ran with “Pietersen CAN still cut it”.

The man himself certainly won’t be reverting back to his most famous ‘do.

“The skunk was terrible,” Pietersen said in relation to the hairstyle he sported in his maiden Test series, the 2005 Ashes.

“Unfortunately I had it when I played in probably the most well-talked-about series ever in Test match history.

“Every single time they show the highlights package I have to relive that ridiculous hairstyle. It’s so embarrassing.”
