Bomber takes screamer off Murali

It was the Red-and-Blacks taking on the Red-and-Blacks at Melbourne’s True Value Solar Centre on Friday, with Twenty20 side Melbourne Renegades taking on Essendon in a friendly 10-over match.

The Muthiah Muralidaran-led Renegades took on the AFL boys, including some of the club’s biggest names, such as Jobe Watson, Brent Stanton and Dyson Heppell.

Highlight of the day belonged to Michael Hibberd, who dove full length before holding onto a stunning grab to dismiss Sri Lankan Muralidaran.

“He just hit it up nice for me,” laughed Hibberd. “I just ran and put on a bit of a dive … I was lucky it stuck.”

The Renegades next face the winless Sydney Thunder, and will be looking to climb back into the top four as the KFC Big Bash competition approaches its business end.
