Based on the period between August 7, 2012 and August 25, 2013, Lanning's stellar efforts with the bat earned her a place on an elite list, alongside last year's winner, West Indian Stafanie Taylor, New Zealand captain Suzie Bates, South Africa's Dane van Niekerk and the England pair of Charlotte Edwards and Anya Shrubsole.
Lanning, 21, made two one-day hundreds for Australia throughout the period, and 31 in the World Cup final, won by the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars.
Taylor, Bates and Lanning also feature in the short-list for the ICC Women's T20I Cricketer of the Year, along with England's Sarah Taylor and the West Indies duo of Shanel Daley and Deandra Dottin.
