Bulk changes for both sides in must-win match under cloudy skies in Melbourne
India bowl first in series decider
India have won the toss and elected to bowl in the series-deciding third Gillette Series ODI against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
India have made three changes to the team that won in Adelaide on Tuesday; uncapped Vijay Shankar, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and allrounder Kedar Jadhav in the XI.
Out of the starting side go Ambati Rayudu, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj.
Shankar, 27, is a right-arm seam-bowling allrounder who has played five T20 internationals for India.
The hosts announced their XI yesterday, with Nathan Lyon dropped for Adam Zampa, while back soreness has ruled out fast bowler Jason Behrendorff. Billy Stanlake returns in place of the left-armer.
Virat Kohli's charges re-wrote the history books with a 2-1 series win in the preceding Domain Test series, India's first Test series win on Australian soil.
The visitors have a chance to do the same today. Victory in Melbourne will deliver their first bilateral ODI series win in Australia.
However, while the Test team had to wait 71 years to break their drought, this is just the second time India has faced Australia at home in an ODI bilateral series.
The first time was three years ago when Australia won comfortably 4-1. Previously, India had been part of tri-series contests with Australia and another visiting team.
Australia won the first ODI in Sydney with a 34-run win before India leveled the series with a six-wicket triumph in Adelaide.
