Howzat! Umpire panel named.

Cricket Australia's details white coats for 2014-15 season

The men in white coats that will stand in Australia's domestic matches this summer have been revealed by Cricket Australia.

The 2014-15 National Umpire Panel features two changes from last year with former Victorian first-class player Shawn Craig and NSW grade cricketer Greg Davidson making their debuts.

CA Senior Manager Cricket Operations Sean Cary welcomed the progression of former players to the umpiring panel, saying Australian stocks were in good health.

“Both Shawn and Greg have extensive involvement in cricket and long playing careers before progressing to umpiring. Their promotion is a reward for hard work and the critical role our State Associations play in developing high-quality officials," said Cary.

“Australia has a proud history of producing quality umpires who have gone on to international honours after coming through our state and development pathways. We believe there is significant potential in this group to continue that.

“Australia also has four umpires contracted to the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, and our 12 selected umpires for 2014-15 have a wonderful opportunity to follow in their footsteps as we continue to set the standard for international officiating.”

Four Victorian umpires have made the panel, with three from NSW and two from Tasmania. South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia had one umpire each selected on the panel.

Ian Lock (WA) and Tony Ward (VIC) are the men replaced from last season's panel. The panel was selected by CA’s Umpire High Performance Panel, whose members are Steve Bernard, Daryl Harper, Peter Marshall, Bob Stratford, David Talalla and CA’s Match Officials Manager Sean Easey.

Four umpires – Fry, Martell, Ward and Wilson – are on CA’s International Panel and are eligible to officiate in international matches either abroad or in Australia.

Last season the ICC selected Martell, Fry and Ward to officiate in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand, the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in Dubai and ICC World TwentyT20 Qualifiers in Dubai respectively. Wilson also made his Twenty20 International debut in Melbourne.

The ICC Elite Panel of Umpires are the 12 umpires contracted to the ICC who officiate in international cricket around the world. That panel includes four Australian representatives: Steve Davis, Bruce Oxenford, Paul Reiffel and Rod Tucker.
