Khawaja's 'friendly' welcome for Zampa

Opener laughs off footage of him and debutant legspinner before second ODI in Wellington

Footage has emerged of Australian opener Usman Khawaja going out of his way to 'welcome' debutant Adam Zampa to the national side.

The 12-second clip, filmed during the national anthems played before the second one-day international against New Zealand in Wellington on Monday, shows Khawaja's hand progressively moving down Zampa's back and onto his buttocks as they stood with arms linked - presumably to test his teammate's composure.

The vision posted by 'The Crowd Goes Wild' on Facebook

Kiwi sports show The Crowd Goes Wild spotted the incident and posted it to its Facebook page.

To his credit, Khawaja was able to see the funny side of the footage being widely shared on social media.

Zampa was not put off by his teammate's affections, claiming two wickets on debut in a strong performance that helped him into Australia's squad for the World T20 in India.

It wasn't the first time Khawaja has tried to distract a teammate, his efforts behind David Warner during a live cross on the Wide World Of Sports earlier this summer proving a big hit with fans.
