Ryno 'disappointed' with Warne attack

Fast bowler urges legendary pair to unite under the spirit of the Baggy Green

Former Australia paceman Ryan Harris feels let down by Shane Warne after the legendary legspinner’s verbal attack on Steve Waugh.

Harris has labelled Warne’s comments "disappointing" and called for unity between the Test legends, and Australian cricketers in general.

Warne made headlines on Tuesday when he declared Waugh is "the most selfish cricketer I've ever played with" on Network Ten's reality program 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'.

The spin king went on to recall his axing from Australia's Test side for the final Test of the 1999 Frank Worrall Trophy series, blaming Waugh for his omission.

Australia won the Test, but 17 years later Warne still holds a grudge.

"There's a lot of reasons I don't like Steve Waugh ... (one of them) because he's the most selfish cricketer I've played with," Warne said.

"I was really disappointed with (being dropped) after (almost) 10 years. I'd just had a shoulder operation. I thought the situation of having to win a Test match would've brought the best out in me too.

"I don't like Steve Waugh for a lot of other reasons, but that was the reason I thought (there was no way that relationship would recover)."

Speaking to Fox Sports News on Wednesday, Harris said he disapproves of Warne's barbs directed at Australia's equal-most capped Test cricketer.

"Warnie's in a position where he can voice his opinion all the time - and he does," Harris said.

"I agree or disagree at times with what Warnie says - that's what he does and that's what makes him unique.

"I'm just not one for coming out and slaying our greats. I see Steve Waugh as a great of the Baggy Green.

"And what he's started … wearing the Baggy Green for the first hour of a Test match.

"That still goes on, that's what we wanted to do, that's what Michael Clarke drilled into us because that's what Steve Waugh did it and it's a great thing to do. Things like that are still hanging around."

Waugh has opted not to enter the scrap, instead releasing an eight word response which reads: "I'm not justifying his comments with an answer."

But Harris would prefer any negative comments between ex-players to remain in-house.

"I just wish everyone would get along," Harris said.

"We're all teammates, we're all brothers.

"People have disagreements but it's just disappointing.

"That's Warnie and he has his opinion. I've noticed Steve Waugh hasn't hit back or bitten back and that's exactly how Steve Waugh is as  a person – calm and flicks off his shoulder and moves on with life."
