Gayle to return
22 November, 2009
West Indies captain Chris Gayle remains a chance to play in the first Test against Australia, following a whirlwind visit to his sick mother in Jamaica.
Jamaican media is reporting that Gayle will leave on Monday bound for Australia in the hope of taking his place at the top of the order for the first Test which begins at the Gabba on Thursday.
Gayle's return will be a massive boost for a West Indies side billed as underdogs against the Australians on home soil.
The hard-hitting opener is often considered a barometer for his team, with explosive hitting at the top of the order setting the tone for a solid performance from his less-experienced team-mates.
