n undefeated century from Alex Blackwell has seen the NSW Breakers comprehensively defeat the ACT Meteors by eight wickets in the WNCL one-day match at Canberra's Manuka Oval on Saturday.
Chasing 217 to win, the Breakers reached their target in the 34th over, easily securing one vital bonus point.
Blackwell was at her aggressive best today, her 121 coming off 107 balls and including 14 fours and one six. She reached triple figures in just 88 deliveries.
It was her third ton for NSW and second at Manuka Oval after scoring a century for Australia against India last summer at the same venue.
She was very well supported by opening partner Leah Poulton (42), the pair putting on 99 for the first wicket in 17 overs.
Twin sister, Kate, also made 27 and was in the middle when Alex reached triple figures.
Earlier in the day NSW skipper, Lisa Sthalekar, won the toss and sent the ACT in on a good batting wicket coupled with a quick outfield.
Ellyse Perry picked up the early wicket of Leonie Coleman (five), but ACT captain Kris Britt and Laura Wright quickly put the home team into a strong position.
They put on 137 runs for the second wicket before Wright was caught and bowled by Angela Reakes for 70.
Reakes then picked up the quick wickets of Sara Hungerford (six) and Lisa Kuschert (zero) and when Lisa Sthalekar had Britt caught in the deep by Perry for 78, the Breakers were back in control.
It was the second impressive batting effort from Britt in as many days, however, after she scored an unbeaten 51 from 38 balls in Friday's Twenty20 loss to the Breakers.
In just her third game for NSW, Angela Reakes finished with 3-43 from eight overs. Ellyse Perry took 3-30 from 10 overs while Erin Osborne (2-34) and Lisa Sthalekar (1-43) also took wickets.
